(HURON COUNTY, ON) – The G.R.E.A.T., Gang Resistance Education and Training, Program is being launched in some area schools.
The G.R.E.A.T. Program is designed to assist youth in developing positive life skills that will help them avoid gang involvement and violent/delinquent behaviour. G.R.E.A.T. uses a communitywide approach to combat the risk factors associated with youth involvement in gang-related behaviours. The lessons, which are interactive and designed to allow students to practice positive behaviour, target students at the grade 7 level. This is a pilot program being introduced into five OPP policed communities.
For more information on the program please contact the Huron OPP Detachment at 1-800-310-1122, or the Crime Prevention Section in Orillia at 1-705-329-7680.
