(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 25 year old with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. On February 6, 2014 at approximately 9:38 p.m. Huron OPP officers received information that a driver had left a restaurant in Exeter and was possibly impaired. As officers were responding to the call they received information that the suspect vehicle had just been involved in a single motor vehicle collision located on Dashwood Road, near Parr Line.
Officers arrived at the scene of the collision and observed a Chevrolet Silverado lying on its’ side in the north ditch. Two occupants of the truck escaped the collision without injury. Police were able to identify the driver of the pickup and while speaking with him it was noticed he had been consuming alcohol. Further investigation revealed he was impaired by alcohol.
He was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both tests were over the legal limit.
As a result, Roy LOCKWOOD, 25, from Bancroft, has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on February 27, 2014. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
