(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Tuesday March 01, 2011 at 9:25 a.m., Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a head-on collision on Perth Line 72 west of Perth Road 121.
Investigation revealed that an eastbound pickup truck on Perth Line 72 was slowing down as it approached the intersection of Perth Road 121. A south bound mini van on Perth Road 121 made a wide turn onto Perth Line 72. The mini van crossed the centre line on Perth Line 72 and continued directly into the path of the pickup truck causing a head-on collision.
As a result of the impact both vehicles were destroyed but miraculously none of the occupants sustained injuries. The Township of Perth East Fire Department from Milverton attended and assisted by securing the vehicles.
The pickup truck was being was operated by a 35 year old female from Lucknow was the lone occupant of the truck. The mini van was operated by a 24 year old female from Aylmer who had 4 child passengers. The mini van driver has been charged with “careless drivingâ€, “being a G1 licence holder not being accompanied by a licensed driverâ€, and with “failing to ensure that three of the four passengers under 16 years of age were properly wearing their seatbeltsâ€.
Environmental conditions were ideal at the time of the collision.
