On Wednesday February 19, 2014, the Canada Post Distribution Center located at 250 Woodlawn Road West contacted the Guelph Police Service to report the theft of mail from several boxes that had been broken into.
Canada Post advised that a community mailbox was pried open and all the mail was removed. There were fourteen customers affected from this box entry.
A second box was pried open and all the mail removed, affecting an additional fifteen customers.
It is unknown if these entries occurred overnight or during day light hours. Both boxes appeared to be entered using the same method.
Canada Post also advised that there were two boxes broken into, located just outside of the city limits.
Canada Post has forwarded this information on to their internal Corporate Security Office and that they will be sending out a letter to all of the affected residents to notify them of the potential loss and theft of personal information.
