At approximately 11:00 p.m. last evening two parties entered a grocery store located on the south side of Chatham. While shopping in the same store an off-duty loss prevention officer observed these two parties conceal packages of meat on their persons. Both parties continued to checkout where they paid for Two (2) items, however made no attempt to pay for the concealed property. As a result a 31 year old male and a 22 year old female, who are both from Chatham, have been arrested and charged with Theft under $5000.00 and Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5000.00. The male has been held in police custody pending a bail hearing and the female has been released with a future court date.
