At approx. 10:15 pm on the 21st of February 2014 a 25 year old Blenheim man was operating a white 2000 Pontiac SE in the area of Charing Cross Road and Sylvanna Drive in the Charing Cross area when he was involved in a motor vehicle collision with another vehicle. The now accused exited his vehicle and subsequently assaulted the 63 year old Harwich male who was operating the second vehicle.
The suspect then reentered his vehicle and drove off. Police were contacted and began to respond to the area when the suspect’s auto was observed eastbound on Middle Line towards Blenheim. Police attempted to stop the vehicle and the accused refused to stop and continued eastbound. The accused turned northbound onto Chatham Street North from Talbot Street in Blenheim where it struck a hydro pole. The suspect exited the car and began to flee police on foot but was apprehend after a short foot chase. Total damage estimates are not yet known.
As a result of this investigation the male has been charged with the following all under the Criminal Code;
Fail To Stop At The Scene Of An Accident
Assault
Flight From Police
Impaired Driving
Drive Over 80mgs
