The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter early this morning.
Around 6:00 a.m. police responded to the area of Lacroix Street near Tweedsmuir Avenue West in regards to a suspicious man dressed in dark clothing carrying a flashlight around a vacant residence. Officers flooded the area and observed that a window was broken and a door forced open. Officers located the man inside the Lacroix Street residence and he was arrested.
The 22-year-old Chatham man has been charged with break and enter and possession of break-in instruments. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank the alert citizen who observed the suspicious man and called police. This morning is a great example of teamwork between the police and community. Police urge all citizens to get to know their neighbours and report suspicious behaviour immediately.
