(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On Saturday 22 February 2014, at approximately 6:01pm an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 6 and Lawrence Road area, Northern Bruce Peninsula. The officer observed a 2012 Acura MDX that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 80 km/h and activated the police radar unit which registered the speed of the motor vehicle at 133 km/h.
As a result of traveling 53 km/h above the speed limit, the 18 year old male driver from Toronto, ON was charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. A provincial offences court date is set for April 7, 2014.
His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and the motor vehicle was impounded for the same amount of time.
