Car Hits Stopped Transport Truck – Minor Injuries

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Monday March 15, 2011 shortly after 1 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to an injury collision involving a car and a transport truck at the intersection of Hwy. 23 and Perth Line 44 in Bornholm.

Investigation indicated that a full sized transport truck had come to a stop on Perth Line 44 in the eastbound lane at the stop sign controlled intersection. A small eastbound sedan with 5 occupants was travelling at a high rate of speed in the eastbound lane of Perth Line 44 and came upon the stopped transport truck. The driver of the car attempted to stop but was unable to do so and struck the rear of the transport trailer. As a result of the impact, two female rear seat passengers in the car sustained minor injuries and required to be transported by Perth County Ambulance to Stratford General Hospital for treatment.

Driving conditions at the time of the collision were ideal. The sedan was demolished as a result of the crash.
The male driver of the car, a 54 year old male from Toronto has been charged with careless driving. The 28 year old truck driver from Etobicoke was uninjured.
