This year’s annual VIP (Values, Influences and Peers) field trip is taking place from Monday, February 24 to Friday, February 28 at the Thames Valley District School Board Office located at 1250 Dundas Street.

The grade 6 VIP lessons are taught by London Police Community Services Officers, throughout every school within the city of London. The lessons consist of: Values, Authority Figures, Peer Pressure, Drugs/Alcohol Awareness, Internet Safety/Cyber Bullying, and two law classes including a mock trial.

The final event takes place in the auditorium at 1250 Dundas Street, and holds approximately 4000 grade six students throughout the week (two sessions a day—see below for schedule). The grade 6 students arrive on buses and hear from presenters including Leroy Hibbert from LUSO, Marlene Lariviere from the EMDC, employees from LHSC Injury Prevention and our London Police K9 Unit.

The London Police rock band, “Duty Calls” also performs for the students during their entrance and exit from the auditorium, while Westervelt Police Foundation students assist as volunteers for the event.
