A tractor trailer that lost part of its load caused some traffic problems in Owen Sound late yesterday morning.
Shortly after 11:15 AM a southbound tractor trailer that was carrying a load of designer stone had a portion of its load shift. One pallet of stone fell off the back of the trailer and blocked the southbound lanes in the 900 block of 9th Avenue East.
The Owen Sound Works Department attended with a loader to remove the stone from the roadway. The Ministry of Ontario Carrier Enforcement unit attended and assisted the Owen Sound Police with the investigation.
The trailer received significant damage to the rear doors and the load could not be re-secured. One southbound lane remained closed for the remainder of the day until a replacement tractor trailer could arrive and remove the load.
The driver, a 52 year old man from Brampton, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Insecure Load.
