Date: Thursday, March 6, 2014 – 4:00pm
On March 6th, at approximately 4 pm, Barrie Police were conducting speed enforcement at Joan of Ark Secondary School on Mapleton Ave.
A Officer observed a vehicle travelling northbound at a high rate of speed and activated a speed measuring device.
The Officer found the measured speed to be 101 km/h in a posted 50 Khm community safety zone.
An 18 yr old male driver was stopped and found to be operating his parent’s pickup truck.
He was charged with:
Drive motor vehicle speeding by 50 km/h or more
Speeding: 101 km/h in a 50 km/h in a Community Safety Zone
Failing to produce driver’ licence.
His driver’s licence suspended for 7 days and his parent’s truck impounded for 7 days.
The accused could not supply any reason for his driving behaviour and will likely face parental discipline as well.
