On the 2nd of March 2014, the police were called to attend the Holly Recreation Centre on Mapleton Av. in regards to an incident where a spectator at a teenage women’s hockey game threatened two referees. Investigation revealed that this spectator berated the referees throughout the game. At the conclusion of the game the referees exited the ice and were confronted by the male spectator. At this time the male threatened to cause bodily harm to one of the referees. As both referees reached their dressing room the male continued to hurl obscenities at them and attempted to enter the room. Both referees believed believed that they were about to be assaulted. They were able to keep the male out of the room by locking themselves in the dressing room. The male continued to yell and swear in full view of other patrons of the facility including children. The male was identified and arrested on the 8th of March 2014. The 47 year old male was charged with uttering threats of bodily harm, assault and causing a disturbance. He was released with conditions.
