On the 26th of February 2014, uniform members of the Barrie Police Service responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Essa Rd. and Fairview Rd. with injuries. It was reported that one vehicle had rear ended the other which was stopped at the intersection. A passenger in the lead vehicle was taken to RVH with reported back, neck and chest injuries. Through investigation it was determined that no collison had taken place contrary to what was being reported by the driver of the lead vehicle and the injured passenger. It was revealed that the lead vehicle had been stopped at a green light and the other driver simply honked his horn causing the driver in the lead vehicle to become upset. The driver of the lead vehicle exited his vehicle with his passenger and began yelling at the other driver. The driver of the lead vehicle then reported an accident and the injuries. On the 9th of March 2014, members of the Barrie Police Traffic Unit charged the driver of the lead vehicle and his passenger with public mischief. Both Elmvale residents were released by of promise to appears.
