Man Charged with Failing to Comply with Curfew

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for breaching his release conditions in Chatham early this morning.

Shortly after midnight, police responded to the Holiday Inn Express on Richmond Street in regards to a strange odor coming from one of their rooms. Officers attended and determined that the odor was that of a female smoking an American cigarette. Through investigation, police further learned that the man in the room was currently bound by a daily curfew of 11:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. except for the purposes of lawful employment or in the company of his surety. The man’s surety was not present so he was arrested.

The 39-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
