Victory! Public And Council Stand Up To CAO/Clerk Gary Long And Department Head – Moncrieff Landfill Saved

For the first time in years, Democracy was unleashed in Council
Chambers.  The voice of the People was heard, despite the
objections of current CAO/Clerk Gary Long and current Director of
Public Works Kelly Church.  Apparently councillors were
inundated with calls from the Public, as councillors are now
bragging about the amount of input they are getting from the Public.
(must be an election year) Remember this council admitted they had
virtually no contact with the Public during the first 6 months in
office.   Record attendance at council meetings, hundreds of
people watching council meetings on YouTube, and dozens of people
taking the time to contact their councillors to offer input, is
definitive proof that our Democracy is slowly getting back on track.

The fact the Will of the People prevailed over the town staff’s
desire to decrease their workload seemed to infuriate current
Director of Public Works, Kelly Church.  The instant that
Council voted to keep the Moncrieff landfill open, Kelly Church
literally gave Council and the Public the Finger.  Watch the
video below to see for yourself.  You will have to full screen
the video, as he is sitting at the back of the room.  After the
meeting at Coffee Culture, eyewitness from the Public Gallery
expressed their shock regarding the level of disrespect a Department
Head was allowed to get away with in Chambers.

Kelly Church’s disrespect of the Public and their safety has had a
devastating effect on our Community.  Vehicles are getting
damaged as some potholes are unavoidable under some
circumstances.  Not only does Kelly Church make our Children
walk to school on the roads, he further endangers them by the
leaving them littered with potholes.  Cars have to swerve to
avoid children and potholes, we all know it is just a matter of time
before tragedy strikes.  The sad fact is, it will likely take a
tragedy before council will be embarrassed enough to finally start
doing their job and make our town safer and more efficient.
