(GODERICH, ON) – A 37 year old male is facing a charge of Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol following a traffic stop early this morning. At approximately 12:30 a.m. a Ford pickup truck was observed travelling southbound on Victoria Street when the driver turned made a quick turn to avoid entering a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint set up at the intersection of Britannia Road and Victoria Street South. Officers followed after the pickup truck and stopped the truck on South Street. A Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spoke with the driver and noted the driver had been drinking alcohol.
A roadside screening test was administered which the driver failed. He was arrested at the scene and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both tests were over the legal limit.
As a result, Paul BONDY, 37, from Windsor, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on April 28, 2014. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
