The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a traffic stop early this morning.
About 1:00 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed a man driving a Chevrolet Silverado on Vanier Drive near Peirone Crescent in Chatham. As the man observed the police cruiser he accelerated away at a high rate of speed. The officer caught up to the man on Madonna Crescent. The man stopped his vehicle and fled on foot. The officer found the man hiding in a nearby hedge.
Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was prohibited from driving anywhere in Canada. His vehicle was impounded for 45 days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
Ryan Devos, 32 years, of Peirone Crescent in Chatham has been charged with driving while disqualified. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
