(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Two Clinton residents are facing criminal charges following an incident that took place on Rattenbury Street East yesterday afternoon. At approximately 6:40 p.m.. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was speaking with the Rattenbury Street resident when the male uttered a threat to cause harm to another resident from Central Huron. At that point the officer attempted to arrest the male for uttering threats however the male resisted arrest and struggled with the officer.
During the arrest the male’s girlfriend intervened and proceeded to kick the officer in the face. The kick caused a minor injury to the officer. A back up officer soon arrived on scene and assisted with the arrest of both subjects. The pair were arrested and taken into custody at the Huron Detachment.
Norman HULLEY, 40 years old from Central Huron has been charged with Utter Threats, Resist Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled April 3, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
Melyni LAIDLAW, 33 years old, also from Central Huron has been charged with Assault Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. She remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 1, 2014.
