(PERTH COUNTY, ON) Between Friday evening April 04, 2014, and Sunday April 06, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted four Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) programs within Perth County. Large numbers of motorists were checked but no impaired drivers were found. During patrols however, officers dealt with the following alcohol related driving incidents;
– On Saturday morning April 05, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a speeding vehicle on Perth Road 119 south of Gads hill was stopped. The 20 year old male driver from the Township of Perth East had “liquor readily availableâ€, while transporting four male youths. The driver was charged under the liquor licence act for this offence and was also charged with speeding.
– On Saturday night April 05, shortly after 10 p.m., a pickup truck was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Road 144 near Wartburg. Upon speaking with the 27 year old male driver from Thames Centre, alcohol was observed inside the vehicle. The driver passed a roadside breath test, but charged with “drive with open container of liquorâ€. The passenger was charged with “have open liquor in other than licenced premises or residenceâ€.
– On Saturday night April 05, around 11:30 p.m., a pickup truck was stopped for speeding on Maitland Ave North in Listowel. The 41 year old male driver from the Municipality of North Perth was given a roadside breath test which determined that the driver had a blood alcohol concentration from .05 to .08. The driver had his licence seized and suspended for 3 days.
– On Sunday morning April 06, shortly before 3:30 a.m., a car was stopped for speeding on Hwy 23 north of Mitchell. The driver was given a roadside breath test which determined that the driver had a blood alcohol concentration from .05 to .08. The 40 year old male driver from the Municipality of North Perth had his driver’s licence seized and suspended for 3 days.
