(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Sunday, April 06, 2014, shortly after 7 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Perth Road 130 and Line 29.
Investigation revealed that a Hyundai Elantra was driven south bound on Perth Road 130 when a west bound Pontiac Montana van travelling on Line 29 struck the passenger side rear corner of the Hyundai. The impact forced the Hyundai into the west ditch where it rolled onto its roof. The 30 year old female driver of the Hyundai, a St.Marys resident, sustained minimal injuries. The driver of the Montana van was a 24 year old female from the Municipality of Central Huron was uninjured. The two young children in the van who were properly and securely placed in child safety seats also did not sustain any injuries as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Pontiac Montana van has been charged with “disobey stop sign – fail to stopâ€Â.
As the weather becomes more conducive to travelling, the Perth County OPP wants to remind motorists to pay extra attention to stop sign controlled intersections. For motorists that come up to a stop sign, STOP, look both ways, and yield to traffic that has the right of way. Motorists on the “through roadwayâ€Â, should when approaching a crossroad, look both ways to ensure that traffic on the cross road is slowing down and stopping.
