School Bus Driver Faces 3 Day Suspension For Drinking and Driving – Students On Board

(HOWICK, ON) – A 50 year old school bus driver was served with a three day suspension following a traffic stop yesterday afternoon. Just after 4:30 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to multiple traffic complaints of a school bus travelling westbound on Harriston Road in an erratic manner.

Witnesses observed a school bus swerving outside of the marked lane onto the shoulder of the road and also across the centre line into oncoming traffic. Officers were able to safely stop the school bus on Clyde Road in Bluevale.

Upon speaking with the male driver officers noted he driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside test was completed and the driver registered a warn range suspension. The driver, a 50 year old from Listowel has lost his driving privileges for three days.

Approximately ten elementary aged students were on board at the time of the traffic stop.
