Fail To Remain Crash Under Investigation

(Morris Turnberry, ON) – Huron OPP officers continue to investigate a collision that occurred on May 6, 2011 shortly after noon. The crash happened on Brussels Line and involved a tractor trailer unit and a car. Investigation reveals that the car was stopped on the west shoulder facing south as a tractor trailer was southbound on Brussels Line. As the tractor trailer approached the vehicle, it moved towards the center of the road to give the car a wide berth. At that time, the car was observed to spin its tires and begin executing a U – turn in front of the commercial vehicle. The truck struck the car at the front wheel and basically drove over the front of the car. The truck came to rest in the ditch. The driver of the car exited his vehicle and limped away from the scene. Another vehicle then came to the area and picked up the driver of the car.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators were called to the scene to piece together the evidence. The roadway was closed for a few hours. At this time however, the driver of the car has still not been located. Police are actively seeking him due to the potential for severe injuries. The driver of the transport truck was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

Any person with information regarding this collision or the whereabouts of the driver should immediately contact the Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314.
