(HURON EAST, ON) – Just after 8:00 p.m. on April 21, 2014 Seaforth Fire Department personnel and Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a detached garage fire on James Street in Seaforth.
The owner of the property discovered the fire and immediately called 911. Prior to the arrival of the Seaforth Fire Department the fire spread to an adjacent garden shed located on Church Street.
Seaforth Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and were able to contain the spread of the fire. Inside the garage were three vintage vehicles that sustained extensive smoke and fire damage. A 1968 Mustang Coupe, a 1952 Mercury Montclair and a 1930 Model A Ford were all damaged. Also damaged by the fire were numerous tools.
The damage to the detached garage and contents is estimated at $100,000 and the damage to the garden shed and contents is approximately $5,000.
The cause of the fire is believed to be from an electrical malfunction.
