(Howick, ON) – Yesterdays’ crash has now taken the life of Shirley SIMMONS, a 75 year old North Huron woman who was the driver of a car travelling westbound on Howick Turnberry Road when an eastbound car crossed into her lane and struck her vehicle head on. Shirley SIMMONS was air lifted from the scene to London where she later died from her injuries.
The 18 year old male driver of the eastbound car was taken to the Wingham Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The two elderly female passengers in Shirley SIMMONS’ vehicle were also taken to the Wingham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigation into the cause of the collision is continuing and charges may be pending.
Howick Turnberry Road remained closed for several hours yesterday while OPP Technical Collision Investigators were on scene.
