(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On June 7th, 2011 at 10:31 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a report of property damage near the hamlet of North Bruce due to a severe storm and strong winds that passed through the area. Officers conducted a search of the incident area, but found no injuries due to the wind event.
South Bruce OPP officers were kept busy overnight investigating 26 calls related to the severe storm, in addition to maintaining normal operations and responding to other calls for service across the detachment area.
Like the storm of June 4th, 2011, hydro poles, hydro lines and trees were knocked down, leaving a number of homes without power. Again, some area roads are closed as they are physically impassable due to debris. Hydro crews are working to restore power and road crews are working to clear area roadways.
The South Bruce OPP is asking motorists to slow down and be aware that they may encounter debris, closed roads or crews working to repair storm damage. Roads affected by storm damage include Hwy 21 near North Bruce along with a number of Bruce County Roads and Concession roads both in Bruce Township and Brant Township.
