8 Speeders Caught In 1 1/2 Hours

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) As usual there are numerous summer road construction projects underway in Perth County. To ensure the safety of construction workers and the general public on the roads, speed limits have been reduced in a number of designated road construction zones.

The Perth County OPP will be making an extra effort to patrol these zones in hopes that the motoring public will abide by the posted speeds and instructions of the zones.

On Wednesday June 15, 2011 between 10:30 a.m. and the noon hour, OPP officers conducted speed patrols in the construction zone along Hwy. 8 at the Whirl Creek between Sebringville and Mitchell. This zone has a posted 60 km/h zone and signs which state the following; “Speed fines double when workers are present”. A total of 8 drivers were charged with speeding, and received tickets with doubled fines.

Anyone driving in construction zones is urged to pay close attention to signage, workers and equipment as well as reduced speed limits.
