(Huron East, ON) – On June 26, 2011 at approximately 11:00 pm, Huron OPP officers were set up for a RIDE checkpoint on Kinburn Line at Front Road in Huron East. A vehicle entered the checkpoint and when an officer spoke with the driver, the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. In addition, liquor was located inside the vehicle.
The officer read a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath and the driver complied but failed his test. The male was arrested and transported to the Huron Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two more samples of his breath. The results of the tests confirmed that the driver had a blood alcohol level in excess of the legal limit of 80 milligrams.
As a result of the investigation, Jason KONARSKI (35) of Seaforth has been charged with one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He will answer to his charge in the Ontario Provincial Count – Goderich on August 29, 2011. His licence was also suspended for 90 days as per statute.
