On the 1st of July 2014 at approximately 12pm, Barrie Police received a 911 call from a residence in Barrie’s north end. The call was made by a male who needed police to settle a dispute over a vacuum cleaner.
Four males living together had purchased a vacuum cleaner months ago and now one male decided he was moving out and wanted to bring the vacuum cleaner with him or be bought out of his share. The other three males disagreed which essentially led to the call for police assistance on the 911 lines.
Police would like to remind the public that 911 is for emergencies only. If you have a police matter that is not an emergency please call the regular police line at 705-725-7025 Ext. 0.
Police cautioned the male on inappropriate use of 911 and were subsequently able to resolve the dispute over the vacuum cleaner.
