Date: Thursday, July 3, 2014 – 8:30pm
On the 3rd of July 2014 at approximately 8:30pm, Police were on patrol in the area of Dunlop and Eccles when they observed a vehicle travelling at an excessive rate of speed. Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop at which time the vehicle continued to speed along Dunlop Street west bound. Seconds later the driver of the motor vehicle lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the frontyard of a residence hitting a tree and causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Police arrived on seen and luckily found the 17 year old male driver uninjured in the driver seat of the vehicle.
Fire department was required to attend as the vehicle leaked all of it’s fluids onto the front lawn. As a precautionary measure, fire disconnected the pilot light for the residence’s water heater in order to avoid any explosions from the gas fumes created by the vehicle.
The 17 year old male was charged with dangerous driving and later released to his parents after being provided a court date in August.
