Human Trafficking refers to the exploitation of a person at the hands of another; it involves the recruitment, transportation, and/or exercising control, direction or influence over the movements of a person typically through sexual exploitation. Across Canada, women and young girls are targeted based on their vulnerability and exploited in the sex trade. Domestic human trafficking exposes its victims to abuse from the trafficker physically, psychologically, emotionally and financially. Often victims face severe consequences if they attempt to escape.
