Collision Injures Two E-Bike Riders

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Thursday July 10, 2014, shortly after 3 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a collision between an E-bike and a passenger van at the intersection of Ontario Rd. (Hwy. 8) and St.George St. in Mitchell.

Investigation revealed that the E-bike carrying the rider and a passenger was travelling north bound on St.George St. when it made a left turn at Ontario Rd. While making the turn, a passenger van proceeding southbound through the intersection struck the E-bike. The two female riders of the E-bike landed on the road surface and sustained minor injuries. They were transported to local hospital for treatment.

The sixteen year female operator of the E-bike, a Municipality of West Perth resident had been charged with “turn not in safety”. Both injured females were wearing proper helmets.
