Leonel MENA – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) Early Saturday morning July 12, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a single motor vehicle crash on Line 47 east of Perth Road 107.

Investigation revealed that well before 6 a.m., a Honda Civic was being driven west bound on Line 47 when it left the roadway and entered the south ditch resulting in extensive damage to the vehicle. The uninjured male driver displayed signs of impairment and was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Leonel MENA (21) of Stratford has been charged with “driving while ability impaired”, and “driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood”, both these charges are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has also been charged with “young driver-blood alcohol concentration above zero”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Monday August 11, 2014 to answer to these charges. He was also issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
