On July 14, 2014 at 10:00 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Wyndham Street North address after receiving the report of an assault. It is alleged that the caller had observed a man attempt to have his dog attack another man. The caller was then struck in the face several times by the man with the dog. Police attempted to arrest the man at the scene. He began kicking, punching and attempted to bite officers before he was finally arrested.
A 51-year-old Guelph man has been charged with assault peace officer, assault with a weapon and assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on July 15, 2014.
