(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Friday August 12, 2011 shortly before 4 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle crash on Perth Line 20 just west of Highway 23.
Investigation by officers at the scene determined that a 2009 Chevy sedan had been driving west bound on Perth Line 20 when the 25 year old male driver from Stratford attempted to pass several west bound vehicles while utilizing the east bound lane. He misjudged the time and distance required to successfully and safely complete the manoeuvre as an eastbound vehicle approached. To avoid a head-on collision, the driver veered off the roadway onto the gravel shoulder where he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle subsequently entered the south ditch, struck a tree and flipped onto its roof. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Exeter Hospital for treatment. He has been charged with careless driving.
