On July 28 at 12:38pm, a Mercedes Benz GL350 SUV driven by a 47 yr. old Woolwich Twp. man was southbound on Wurster Place, Woolwich Twp. approaching the GEXR Railway tracks. At the same time, a westbound Via Rail train was approaching the Wurster Place crossing. The SUV stopped short of the rails however was struck by the Via train as it passed. The collision tore off the front bumper of the SUV and damaged the hood. The train received little to no damage. The train applied emergency braking and came to a stop a distance away. The driver of the SUV drove to his nearby residence. Emergency responders attended and were able to locate the SUV driver at his residence, uninjured. No one on the train was injured however the train was delayed until a new train crew arrived. The collision is still under investigation.
