(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday August 08, 2014, at 6:44 p.m. an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division officer on patrol in Listowel observed a south bound Pontiac sedan on Wallace Ave North. The male adult passenger in the car was observed smoking a cigarette while a female child was observed seated in the back seat of the vehicle.
The car was pulled over in downtown Listowel and the male passenger was spoken to. The female child was determined to be 8 years of age. The 27 year old male passenger, a resident of Drayton was aware of the requirements under the Smoke Free Ontario Act. He was issued a ticket of $155 for the offence of “smoke tobacco in motor vehicle while another person less than 16 years old is presentâ€Â.
