On Thursday, August 12, 2014 at approximately 7:44pm, a resident of Elmira was hand digging around the gas meter outside of his house and struck the gas line causing a leak. Woolwich Fire Department attended the scene to stem the flow until a crew from Union Gas could arrive to make the final repairs. There were no injuries or other property damage as a result of this incident.
