On August 22, 2014 at 1:30 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Woolwich Street in regard to suspected impaired driving. When the vehicle came to a stop the male driver got out and fled on foot. The canine unit attended the scene and was able to locate the man hiding in some bushes a short distance away and arrested him.
A 29-year-old Fergus man has been charged with impaired driving, drive over 80mg, escape lawful custody, breach undertaking as well as two counts of driving while suspension (HTA). He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on August 22, 2014.
