Beginning Monday September 08th 2014, visitors to the Owen Sound Consolidated Courthouse, 611 9th Avenue East, will be subject to enhanced security screening immediately upon entering the building.
The Owen Sound Police Service is responsible for security of the courthouse while courts are in operation. Starting on Monday, visitors will be required to empty the contents of their pockets and submit their personal bags, purses or similar, into bins for inspection of contents. The visitor will then be required to walk through a magnetic detection device, after which they will retrieve their inspected belongings upon clearance.
The process is very similar to what a person might experience through an airport security screening.
The Owen Sound Police Service would like to advise the public who are attending the courthouse to allow themselves extra time to go though the security screening process. The public can help minimize delays by not bringing any unnecessary bags or parcels with them into the courthouse.
