On September 8, 2014 at 3:30 p.m., a male attempted to open an account at a local bank using fraudulent identification. An alert employee contacted the Guelph Police Service, who arrested the man inside the bank. A male accomplice was found nearby, sitting in a parked vehicle. Numerous credit cards, cheque books and identity documents were seized. They were also in possession of multiple cell phones and other electronic devices.
Zaheer Babar, 29 years of Maple, has been charged with three counts of fraud under $5,000, impersonation and possession of identity document.
Muneeb-Ur-Rehma Mohammad, 49 years of Toronto, has been charged with fraud under $5,000.
Both will appear in court on September 11, 2014.
