On September 14th, 2014, at approximately 4:34pm, a Waterloo Regional Police officer attemped to arrest an intoxicated male who was walking through traffic and disregarding passing vehicles. Police allege that the male resisted arrest, assaulted the officer, and attempted to grab the officer’s baton. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. Canine assisted and the male was located and arrested within a short distance away. A 29 year old Cambridge man is charged with several offences including Assault Peace Officer with Intent to Resist, Disarming a Peace Officer, Escape Lawful Custody, Breach of Probation, and Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. The accused male was held for a show cause hearing.
