Breach of Recognizance

Occurrence #: BA14-045403
Date: Saturday, September 20, 2014 – 10:00pm
On the 20th of September 2014 at approximately 10 pm, police responded to an east end plaza regarding a concern of an intoxicated male attempting to ride his bicycle. Witnesses feared that if the male was not stopped he may wobble into oncoming traffic and be struck by a motorist.

When police arrived to the area, the male was located at the rear of the plaza. He had fallen off his bike and passed out sleeping on the pavement. Officers awoke the male and commenced with their investigation of his identity. Once identified, officers discovered the male was currently on charges for Impaired, over 80, sexual assault and Breach of recognizance. The male had conditions not to consume alcohol and had a curfew of 9pm.

Police subsequently arrested the male for breaching his recognizance and transported him to the station. While at the station the male became aggressive with the cells officer during booking and punched him in the face. The male was then restrained and placed in cells. The male continued his aggressive behaviour and while in cells began to urinate all over the cell block.

As a result of being intoxicated and trying to ride his bicycle home, the 30 year old Barrie male now faces charges of Breach Recognizance x2, Assault peace officer, mischief and breach of probation. He was held pending a bail hearing.
