(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Just before 4:30 p.m. on September 27, 2014 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to patrol for a possible impaired driver. Police received information from a witness that the driver of a Buick sedan was travelling in an erratic manner northbound on Highbury Avenue from Middlesex Centre into Huron County.
Police located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Morrison Line. Upon speaking with the driver police observed the male to be displaying several signs that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit. Police also completed a driver’s licence check and it revealed the driver held a suspended driver’s licence and was currently disqualified from driving.
As a result, 41 year old Shane CLARKE from Exeter been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Driving While Disqualified and Driving While Under Suspension. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on October 30, 2014. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for forty five days.
