(ST.MARYS, ON) On Monday October 03, 2011 shortly after 1 a.m. Perth County OPP officers on patrol in St.Marys observed two young males near Little Falls Public School. The males immediately ran from police but were subsequently located. The boys aged 13 and 15 were transported to the St.Marys OPP office where they were evasive as to their names. Upon determining their identity, their parents were contacted.
The parents attended the St.Marys OPP detachment and it was discovered that the boys had snuck out of their houses when their parents were asleep. The boys were subsequently handed over to their parents.
Both boys were well aware of the provincial curfew which is in effect between midnight and 6 a.m. for children under the age of 16. This legislation falls under the authority of the provincial Child and Family Services Act. Parents are advised that the onus falls on them to know where their children are.
