Background:
On September 30, at 9:47 a.m., Guelph Police attended to a residence located 1541 Gordon St S, Guelph. The responding officers located a deceased 61-year-old female inside the residence. The circumstances surrounding the death appear to be suspicious in nature. The attending Coroner had ordered a post mortem examination in Hamilton, which will take place on Wednesday October 1, 2014.
UPDATE:
On October 1, 2014, a post-mortem examination was conducted on the 61-year-old female. As a result of the preliminary findings of the post-mortem examination, investigators are treating this death investigation as a homicide. The scene on Gordon Street S, remains contained by the police until a forensic examination can be completed. The nature of the injuries will not be released at this time as we continue to protect the integrity of the investigation.
