Man Charged with Theft

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a theft complaint in Chatham yesterday morning.

Around 11:00 a.m. the man entered the LCBO on Wellington Street. The man was observed concealing a 750ml bottle of gin in the waistband of his pants. When approached by an employee, the man fled the store failing to pay for the alcohol. Within the hour, police located the man walking on Raleigh Street and he was taken into custody. Officers recovered the bottle of gin on Wellington Street.

Robert Neill, 33 years, of Wilson Street in Chatham has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
