Man arrested after pulling knife in fight

On October 15, 2014 at 3:20 p.m., the Guelph Police went to 576 Woolwich Street after receiving a complaint that a male had a knife. It is alleged that two males that are no known to each other, became involved in an altercation on the street when one male pulled out a knife. The victim ran from the area and called police. Police located the man with the knife and attempted to arrest him. He resisted officers by kicking and punching at them. After a short fight, he was arrested. One officer received a minor injury and was treated at Guelph General Hospital.

A 25-year-old Guelph man has been charged with weapons dangerous, assault with a weapon, resist arrest and two counts of assault police officer. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on October 16, 2014.
