(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 62 year old female is facing an Over 80 charge after she was stopped on October 20, 2014. At approximately 9:45 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers observed a Nissan Maxima travelling southbound on Plugtown Line at a speed well below the 80 km/h speed limit. Officers stopped the driver of the vehicle to check on her sobriety. Upon speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been drinking alcohol.
A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail. She was arrested for failing the roadside screening test and was transported back to the Exeter OPP detachment for breath tests. She provided two samples of her breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 62 year old Kathy WALSH from South Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. She has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on November 27, 2014. She has received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and her motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
