On the 31st of October at approximately 1:45am, police were contacted in regards to a disturbance at an establishment in the downtown area. Information was that an intoxicated male was fighting with the bar staff. Police arrived on scene and observed the male being restrained by security staff. Police conducted their investigation and determined that the male became irate for no reason and began to attack the security staff. Police continued the arrest, handcuffed the male and escorted him to the police cruiser.
While escorting the male to the cruiser he began flailing and pushing his body on to the officers and attempting to kick them. Police feared that the male was under the influence of drugs as his erratic behaviour continued to escalate. Officers then contacted ambulance and had the male attend RVH to be treated.
The male was treated and released on a promise to appear for assault, assault with intent to resist arrest and breach of probation. The male was currently on conditions for another assault he committed on an officer last year.
